LEGO 75378 Grogu BARC Speeder Escape coming in May 2024 – with Kelleran Beq minifigure!

Beyond excited when I heard about this set coming in May 2024! As soon as I first saw the episode where Kelleran Beq saves Grogu from the Jedi Temple right after Order 66, I wanted this scene as a LEGO set (and a Jedi Kelleran minifigure!)

Images of the set have now officially been released, and it looks almost exactly like we expected: Kelleran’s Speeder with sidecar, Grogu’s Pram attached, and two 501st troopers (and…. a lamp?)

I would have preferred a Diorama version of this set, but honestly a playset will do just fine too, I’m just happy this is finally being made!

If you need a refresher on the scene this set is based on, it’s from The Mandalorian Season 3, Episode 4: The Foundling, that answered a TON of fan questions about Grogu’s mysterious past, and if he was at the Jedi Temple during the Clone attack.

Fun fact: Kelleran Beq’s nickname is “The Sabered Hand”

Leaked images of the Kelleran Beq minifigure below. Looks really, really good to me. Zero complaints. Printed Jedi robes look super detailed, and I love that they included both lightsabers and his brown cape. Face printing is spot on. Take a look:

One of the coolest parts of this scene was the introduction of Jedi Master Kelleran Beq and finally getting to see him on screen. For those who don’t know, the actor who plays Kelleran (Ahmed Best) voiced and provided the motion capture for Jar-Jar Banks back in 1999 when The Phantom Menace came out. What a cool come-back story!

Thanks to Kelleran Beq’s lightsaber abilities, the use of a BARC Speeder, and the aid of some members of the Royal Naboo Security Forces (kudos Jar-Jar!), Kelleran and Grogu were able to escape the Clone attack on the Jedi Temple and flee Coruscant. If you haven’t seen it, go watch the episode right now!

While it’s not the biggest set (only 221 pieces), I don’t think it needs to be. We’re getting a detailed BARC Speeder with Grogu’s pram sitting in the sidecar as an attachment (sidecar connected by Technic pins).

I love the color scheme of the Republic red and white colors on the speeder. We are getting 2 (large) stud shooters on the front, which negatively affects the sleek look of the speeder a little, but I’ll give LEGO a pass here as it technically is a play set.

There was originally some speculation about the small accessory build alongside the speeder being some sort of a platform or barricade, but according to the leaked images we can now see that instead it seems to be… a lamp… 🤷‍♂️ Comment below if you know what this is about, as I’m a little confused.

Order 66 Kelleran Beq saving Grogu
Upon rewatching the scene, I’m realizing the lamp is probably from here. Still… seems like an odd choice for the accessory build by LEGO. Why not a small platform for the Clone Troopers to stand on or something? What am I missing?

For $29.99, we are however getting 4 minifigures included in the build, which is nice. Expect to see:

  • Grogu (Baby Yoda)
  • Kelleran Beq (With full Jedi robes and both a green and blue lightsaber as seen in the show)
  • 2x regular blue 501st Clone Troopers

(Unfortunately no Naboo Security Forces minifigures included in this set, which is a bit of a bummer. Don’t we all have enough standard 501st Clone Troopers (with helmet holes) already?!)

Still can’t get over how good the Kelleran figure is…

Wish the set would have included at least one of these Naboo security minifigures!

Here’s a good shot of the BARC Speeder from the episode. (Since I know you’re wondering, “BARC” stands for Biker Advanced Recon Commando – these were speeders that were commissioned for the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars era).

Excited for this one to launch on May 1st, 2024! (LEGO.com link)
