LEGO 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina Review

“You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.”

– Obi-Wan Kenobi

Is it one of the most iconic Star Wars locations ever? The Mos Eisley Cantina is certainly up there on the list, as this dimly lit tavern (known for its live music, strong drinks, and occasional outbreaks of violence) has been a fan favorite spot for 45 years since we first followed Luke and Old Ben’s journey there in Episode IV.

When LEGO released this massive set as part of their Master Builder Series in 2020, fans were delighted to discover the set would include a whopping 21 minifigures (with several of these being exclusive figures) and a massive, interactive, playable interior.

Features

The set is unique in that the entire interior can be opened up via the easily removable roof to reveal a highly detailed (and surprisingly accurate to the films) bar area with accompanying booths on either side.

Especially cool is the inclusion of the Tatooine famous cantina band – Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes (Star Wars trivia, anyone?) who get their own little stage area to perform.

For this first time ever for Star Wars fans – this set includes a LEGO version of the Dewback, complete with a removable saddle and a little watering hole built into the side of the building.

And what Cantina set would this be without including arguably the hottest debated scene in all of Star Wars: “Who Shot First?” – Han or Greedo? There’s even a cool play feature where Greedo can be knocked off his seat.

The set features a separate structures, which can be connected to the main Cantina if desired, or left as a separate area for play. This bonus Jawa’s Shop is filled with all sorts of interesting tools, spare parts, and even a hidden lightsaber crystal. Especially observant builders will even notice a small “Wanted” posted for R2-D2 and C-3PO.

Another nice addition is the moisture vaporators connected to the side of the Cantina, a common sight on the desert planet of Tatooine.

Coming in at an impressive 3,187 pieces, this set will provide hours of challenging building and play for kids, or serve as an impressive display piece for adults. (It’s also one of the biggest Star Wars sets ever released).
