Now this is Podracing! LEGO 75380 Mos Espa Podrace Diorama coming May 2024 (Official Images Released!)

2024 marks the 25th anniversary of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (I know, I couldn’t believe it either…) and what better way to celebrate than with a Diorama set depicting the classic Boonta Eve Podrace scene in Mos Espa, Tatooine!

*Update – we now have official images of what the Podrace Diorama will look like, including the box artwork!

As expected, we’re getting a micro-scale build featuring Anakin and Sebulba’s podracers in tight competition, with Arch Canyon in the background.

12 inches long! Bigger than most Diorama sets so far.

I LOVE the look of this Diorama. While my original guess about some of the arena being included was wrong, the podracers zooming out of Arch Canyon looks fantastic.

Amazing attention to detail on the ground and scenery – check out all the curves and unique mix of studs and smooth pieces in the canyon and the side of the mountain.

No surprise here – the featured podracers are of course Anakin and Sebulba’s in tight competition, with little studs to represent the characters. It works!

While I do love the detailing on everything and I think the Diorama looks absolutely stunning as a display piece, there is a tiny part of me that can’t unsee this set as basically two polybags staged on an ultra-detailed background. Sorry… didn’t mean to potentially ruin the set for you! 🫣

Fun fact: this will be the first prequel-era LEGO Diorama series set

The Diorama will be priced at $79.99 and feature 718 pieces, with a fairly sizable 12 inch length for the entire scene.

As with all other Diorama Series sets, we’re getting a quote on the plaque, which reads:

Remember, concentrate on the moment. Feel. Don’t think. Use your instincts.

– Qui-Gon Jinn

I do like the Qui-Gon quote, it fits the scene and it works. A silly part of my was hoping for one of Anakin’s classic lines, or maybe even this one from the commentators, ha:

Podracing Announcers quote: I don't care what universe you're from, that's gotta hurt!

This Podracing Diorama will also feature the special 25th Anniversary of Star Wars commemorative brick, just like the trio of 2024 midi-scale Starships that just released in March 2024.

Boonta Eve Podrace
18 Podracers, each capable of going over 430 mph. Supposedly Anakin’s Podracer could achieve a top speed of 588 mph! 🫣
