LEGO 40676 Phantom Menace BrickHeadz Collection coming in May 2024 (with Jar Jar Binks!)

2024 marks the 25th Anniversary of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace (anyone else feel really old now…?) and LEGO are released a special tribute BrickHeadz set featuring six classic characters from the movie.

The BrickHeadz series is a fun and quirky side to the LEGO Star Wars lineup, but in recent years they have been very well designed and Iā€™m always excited to see what the next addition to the collection is.

*Update – The Phantom Menace BrickHeadz Collection can now be seen on!

Where to

Last year we were treated to the 40th Anniversary Return of the Jedi Battle of Endor Heroes BrickHeadz bundle set (now retired, but still available on eBay or Amazon), which was a fantastic combination of four Episode VI characters (plus R2).

Since the upcoming Phantom Menace set for 2024 is priced higher at $54.99, we’re getting 6 classic Episode 1 BrickHeadz characters in this collection, including:

  • Darth Maul
  • Qui-Gon Jinn
  • Queen Amidala
  • Podracer Anakin Skywalker
  • Jar Jar Binks (yes!!)
  • Captain Panaka (sorry, no young Obi-Wan in this one!)

Can’t wait to see Jar Jar in BrickHeadz form! Seriously though – I think since actor Ahmed Best made his awesome Star Wars comeback as Kelleran Beq in the Mandalorian series (and is getting himself a sweet Kelleran minifigure in the Grogu Escape set), he is finally getting the respect and appreciation he deserves for bringing Jar Jar to life all those years ago. I’m a huge Ahmed fan, and would be proud to have an official Jar Jar Binks BrickHeadz on my shelf.

A few other thoughts:

  • Young Anakin looks AWESOME. Love the detailing on his Podracing helmet
  • Queen Amidala might be the standout figure here, incredible detailing on her dress and hair
  • While I’m a huge fan of Captain Panaka and I get that he’s a rare character for LEGO Star Wars, I do kind of feel like Young Obi-Wan should have been included instead. Where’s the love for Kenobi?!
  • Darth Maul’s horns!! Amazing

The other BrickHeadz set for 2024 is Commander Cody, also launching in May alongside this Phantom Menace collection set. No sign of a Captain Rex Brickheadz yet, fingers crossed for 2025! (If you’re reading this LEGO design team – make it happen!)

All in all, 2024 is shaping up to be a great year for prequels fans, as we’re getting a whole batch of other sweet Episode I sets as well – check my 2024 roundup post for the full list.
