LEGO 75382 UCS TIE Interceptor officially revealed as 2024’s big ‘May the 4th’ Star Wars set

It’s been 24 years since we’ve had an official UCS TIE Interceptor, and while the original version from 2000 can still be found on eBay (if you’re willing pay!), I am very excited to finally see a modern version of this.

After months of rumors and speculation, LEGO have finally revealed the UCS TIE Interceptor on their website (link), and ohh boy does it look good. This will be 2024’s big May the 4th set (and launching a few days early on May 1st for LEGO VIP/Insider members).

The new 2024 TIE Interceptor will contain 1,931 pieces and retail for $229.99, which surprisingly puts it at $10 cheaper than the previous two similarly sized May the 4th set releases, the UCS Landspeeder (link) and UCS X-Wing (link).

Brand new exclusive TIE Pilot figure with his best bud the Mouse Droid.

As for minifigures, the original rumors for this set included 2 figures. However, now that the official images are out, it’s really more like 1.5 figures…

As expected, we’re getting an ultra-detailed TIE Pilot, and a small buildable Mouse Droid. Yep…a Mouse Droid. I was really hoping for a special 2nd figure (Moff Gideon?), but no go this time around.

The TIE Pilot looks superb, and even includes new arm printing! Very nice detailing on him.

The TIE Interceptor sits at an impressive 16″ long, and looks great slightly angled up on the display stand. This will look fantastic paired with last year’s UCS X-Wing.

Also, no surprise here, but don’t expect the TIE Interceptor to be minifigure scale or very easy to “swoosh” around. Since it’s primarily a collectible display piece, it features a nice brick-built stand and plaque for the figures to display on. Also, we’re getting the 25th Anniversary of LEGO Star Wars brick on the display stand. Nice touch!

Expect the TIE Interceptor to officially launch on May 4th, 2024 for the general public, and if you’re a LEGO Insider, you’ll be able to snag it early on May 1st. Woohoo!
